The El Sennari house was built by Ibrahim Khatkhuda El Sennari, a wealthy merchant in 1794. One of the characteristics of the house is that it was used by French scientists when they carried out the book of description of Egypt in the early 19th century, with the French occupation of Egypt in 1789.
El Sennari's house presents one of the largest window displays called in Arabic (Mashrabeya) one of the largest enchanting in Egypt. There is also the common open courtyard that is often found in many historical houses and mosques in Egypt.
